Prehistoric Human – Size Lobsters?!

Hello, today I have a crazy, crazy topic to share with you. Fossil hunters in Morocco have discovered, yes, ancient lobsters, that were the size of a human. This animal was discovered very recently and lived roughly 520 million years ago. This marine animal reached sizes of about 7 feet (2 m)! That is one of the biggest arthropods ever to live! They named this beast Aegirocassis benmoulae, after Moroccan fossil hunter Muhammad Bin Moula, who discovered the fossils. Aegirocassis was an Anomalocaridid, but unlike it’s cousin Anomalocaris, who was a top predator of the time, Aegirocassis was a filter feeder, much like modern whales. “Aegirocassis benmoulae is a truly remarkable looking creature,” is a quote from Dr. Derek Briggs, of the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. Aegirocassis had two pairs of flaps every body segment to help it move around in the water effectively.
