Did Volcanoes cause the dinosaurs to go extinct?

Recently, scientists have speculated that it is possible if volcanic activity could have ended the reign of the dinosaurs. They say it was not an asteroid, but one of the world’s largest volcanic eruptions of all time. According to some scientists, the lava flow could have spread for about 580,000 miles! That’s a lot of ground covered by lava! It is thought to have occurred in an area in India called the Deccan Traps. The Deccan Traps was a huge area with mountain sized basalt volcanoes covering the landscape. I think it’s fair to assume that if the dinosaurs did go extinct because of volcanoes, that the Deccan Traps are a perfect place for the extinction to begin. Overall, it is an interesting theory, but I am not completely convinced. Thanks for reading! Bye! imgres
